This page lists every cookie and browser storage entry the TakeHomeIncome website uses. We aim to keep the list short and the explanations plain.
2. Essential cookies
These are required for the site to work. They cannot be disabled without breaking key functionality.
- Supabase auth session — set when you log in. Keeps you signed in between page loads. Expires when your session ends or you log out. Set by our authentication provider, Supabase.
3. Preference and storage
- Theme preference (localStorage) — remembers whether you chose light or dark mode. Default is dark.
- Print payload (localStorage) — when you click “Print / PDF”, we briefly stash the calculation in localStorage so the new print tab can read it. The entry is deleted the moment the print tab loads. It is never sent to any server.
4. Advertising cookies (Google AdSense)
When advertising is enabled on the blog, Google AdSense may set cookies on your browser to deliver and measure ads. These include cookies named like __gads, __gpi, and similar.
- Personalised advertising requires your consent in the UK/EEA. We will show a consent banner before any personalised advertising cookie is set in those regions.
- You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing your cookies or changing your browser settings, then refreshing the page.
- More about Google’s ad cookies: Google ad policies.
- We do not enable advertising cookies on the calculator, the legal pages, the dashboard, login/signup, the share/print pages, or while you are signed in.
5. Controlling cookies
You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings at any time. Note that blocking essential cookies will prevent you from logging in or saving calculations.
- Chrome: Manage cookies in Chrome
- Firefox: Cookies in Firefox
- Safari: Cookies in Safari
6. Consent
A cookie consent banner appears on your first visit, before any non-essential cookies are used. You can:
- Accept all — turn on preferences, analytics, and advertising cookies.
- Reject all — keep only essential cookies. The site works exactly the same; we just don’t set analytics or advertising cookies.
- Manage choices — pick which categories you allow, individually.
Your choice is stored locally in your browser. You can change it at any time via the Cookie settings link in the footer. Essential cookies remain required for login and account features and are not asked about.
Advertising cookies stay disabled until you opt in. We do not load Google AdSense or related ad scripts unless your stored decision includes the advertising category. For UK/EEA users this matches the opt-in requirement under PECR and the EU ePrivacy rules.
7. Changes to this policy
If we add new cookies (for example a new analytics provider), we will update this page and revise the “Last updated” date.
